The North Texas housing market is leveling out, according to a report by the Dallas Morning News. But don’t worry. As they put it, “we’ve still got one of the best homebuying sectors in the country.” We are, after all, beating the national average in regards to rising home prices. However, things are cooling down — and that’s probably a good thing.
The prices of homes are still on the rise, but they’re rising at slightly lower rates than they have been for the past few years. It takes longer to sell a house this year than it did this same time last year, and the number of homes for sale is higher, which is good because we have a lot of people moving to DFW, so we need all the inventory we can get.
Analysts who’ve been watching the North Texas housing markets are relieved to see a little moderation finally hitting the residential sector.
Dr. James Gaines, chief economist with the Real Estate Center, told the DMN, “You’ve still got a good market — just a little slower than what we’ve seen recently. Things are getting back to normal.”
